Terms of Service
Last Updated: September 14, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using FairBill Analyzer. These Terms supplement the Liberty's Principles Media Ecosystem Terms of Service, which govern all LPM products.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using FairBill Analyzer (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and the Ecosystem Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part, you may not access the Service.
2. Description of Service
FairBill Analyzer is an educational tool that analyzes legal bills and invoices to identify potential billing issues. Our Service:
- Runs deterministic checks (arithmetic, duplicate entries, clerical-rate benchmarks) on your device, from the bill's own line text
- Identifies which lines on the bill are testable at all, distinct from lines with too little detail to check
- Grounds each deterministic finding in a small, curated set of case law and ABA Model Rule 1.5, with the context each source actually arose in
- Sends only approved line text, plus which category and cited lines a deterministic finding already covers (never its dollar amount) — never the original document, and only after the on-device review step described in Section 4 — for a separate AI-assessed layer that supplements, but never contradicts, the deterministic findings
- Generates educational reports and a draft letter template as part of the paid Instruments package (see Section 6 for pricing)
3. Important Disclaimers
THIS SERVICE IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.
Not Legal Advice: FairBill Analyzer is NOT a law firm and does NOT provide legal advice. The analysis, reports, and letter templates generated by our Service are educational tools to help you understand your legal bills. They do not constitute legal advice, legal opinion, or legal representation.
Not a Substitute for an Attorney: Our Service does not replace consultation with a licensed attorney. If you have questions about your legal rights, billing disputes, or need legal representation, you should consult with a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.
No Attorney-Client Relationship: Use of FairBill Analyzer does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and FairBill Analyzer, Liberty's Principles Media LLC, or any of its employees, contractors, or affiliates.
Accuracy Not Guaranteed: While we strive to provide accurate analysis, we cannot guarantee that our analysis is complete, accurate, or applicable to your specific situation. ABA Model Rule 1.5 is a model rule, not itself binding law — each state bar adopts its own version, with its own wording and case law, and this Service does not assert that any jurisdiction's actual adopted text matches the model rule cited here. Legal billing practices vary by jurisdiction, practice area, and agreement between attorney and client.
4. How analysis runs
The assessed layer is produced by an automated system, not a human analyst.
- The PDF or pasted text is read in your browser. The invoice document is not uploaded to our servers.
- Math, duplicates, clerical-rate, and block-billing checks run on your device and work with the network off.
- Only redacted line-item text is sent, only after you approve, and only for the assessed layer.
- Assessed notes can be wrong or incomplete. You must independently verify them before relying on them.
5. User Responsibilities
By using our Service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information and documents
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes
- Not upload documents you do not have the right to share
- Review and customize any generated documents before use
- Seek professional legal advice for specific legal questions
- Take responsibility for any actions you take based on our analysis
- Not use the Service to harass, intimidate, or make bad-faith claims against attorneys or law firms
6. Payment Terms
Instruments pricing: The free line review costs nothing. The Instruments package is a one-time $29 charge per invoice. There is no monthly plan and no recurring charge.
Payment Processing: Payments are processed securely through Stripe. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Refund Policy: Due to the immediate delivery of digital analysis and reports, refunds are generally not available once analysis has been completed. If you experience technical issues preventing delivery of your reports, contact us at chris@fairbillanalyzer.com within 48 hours for assistance.
No Guarantee of Savings: We do not guarantee that using our analysis will result in any reduction of your legal bills. Results depend on many factors outside our control, including your law firm's policies and your specific fee agreement.
7. Intellectual Property
Our Content: The Service, including its design, features, the deterministic checks and curated citations described in Section 4, and content, is owned by Liberty's Principles Media LLC and protected by intellectual property laws.
Your Content: You retain ownership of your invoice. The document is read in the browser. We do not take a license to store it.
Generated Reports: Reports generated for you are yours to use. You may share, modify, and distribute them as needed for your billing dispute.
8. Limitation of Liability
